You’ll never guess what… Richie Towell made it.
Another month, another couple of world-beating performances from the Dundalk man as Stephen Kenny’s side rip up the SSE Airtricity League for the craic.
In a month where Limerick’s once dead season has dared to resurrect itself, where Paul Hegarty has had an instant impression on Derry City and we’ve had cup drama and silverware won, this is the best 11 that we’ve come up with for September.
Conor O’Malley (St. Pat’s)
The St. Pat’s ‘keeper is really coming of age – and him only 20. In the absence of Brendan Clarke, O’Malley has stepped up. His EA Sports Cup final clean sheet shows the maturity he has developed – not to mention his penalty heroics – and he looked commanding last weekend as Pat’s kept the house in order yet again.
Here's the moment Conor O'Malley won the EA Sports Cup final for @stpatsfc against @GalwayUnitedFC.#EAFinal #LOI https://t.co/yCaK18oDBL

Michael McSweeney (Cork City)
Has been in fine form for John Caulfield’s men as they didn’t concede in the league in September and made it to the cup semi final.
Alan Bennett (Cork City)
Another key member of that tight backline. Really showcasing all the experience he has accumulated in his career and, in a lacklustre display against Derry, he held the fort. Proving to be a gem of a capture.
Ryan McBride (Derry City)
Ryan McBride takes out 2 Cork City players… #playon! 😂 #loi #corder #ccfc #derry https://t.co/11SXZhyfBU

Enough said.
Dean Jarvis (Derry City)
Got Paul Hegarty’s tenure up and running with a vital goal in the win against Rovers and has been impressive on the flank as City started their turnaround and climb away from the bottom.
Brandon Miele (Shamrock Rovers)
With all the talk about Damien Duff, it has been Miele who has been consistent on the flank for Rovers.
Sean Thornton (Drogheda)
Thornton’s return to the heart of the Drogheda team has made a huge difference as the battle to stay up tightens up nerve-rackingly at the bottom.
Richie Towell (Dundalk)
Dundalk are unstoppable. Richie Towell is more so. Six goals in his last two games. From midfield. LOL.
Great hair too.

Daryl Horgan (Dundalk)
Another man on form – a whole season on form – for a team who seemingly don’t know anything else but form. These guys are romping to the league title in ridiculous style.
Vinny Faherty (Limerick)
Seven points from four league games for the month of September for Limerick and three goals from their striker who is leading the revival.
Ismahil Akinade (Bohemians)
Three goals, four games. Bohs might have drawn every one of their September matches but they’ve done that in spite of (or perhaps thanks to) Akinade’s brilliant efforts up top.
