Only 3 Premier League players among world’s 10 most valuable and NO Irish in Top 100

It’s like Top Trumps for Oil Sheikhs and Russian Oligarchs.

The annual CIES Football Observatory survey of Europe’s top five leagues is out and it does not make great reading for the Premier League.

Only Harry Kane, Anthony Martial and Sergio Aguero make it into the top 10, with England and Tottenham striker Kane (€112.5 million) the only English-based player to top €100m in value.

Not bad for a guy who was sitting on the Leicester City bench a few seasons ago.

Unsurprisingly top spot goes to Lionel Messi, who is worth €211.1m (before tax trial), followed by Neymar, Cristiano Ronaldo, Antoine Griezmann and Kane.

With Suarez coming in at €105.8m according to the Observatory, Barcelona’s MSN attack is valued at over HALF A BILLION EURO.

It’s quite a who’s who of footballing talent, but it is devoid of any Irish players. While our second Euro 2016 opponents Belgium have three players – Eden Hazard, Romelu Lukaku and Kevin de Bruyne – in the top 30 alone.

Gulp.
