Picture an Arjen Robben goal.
Robben collects the ball on the right side of the pitch, dribbles towards a defender, drops his shoulder, cuts onto his left foot and curls it into the net, right?
Well, the Bayern Munich winger did it again tonight.
Robben scored the opening goal of Munich’s Champions League last 16 first leg tie against Arsenal, and it was a stunning effort.
However, despite the Dutchman’s brilliance, Francis Coquelin should probably get an assist for his role.
Yes, Robben is difficult to stop, and you know what he’s going to do more often than not, but don’t make it this easy.
Here’s Coquelin’s position and here’s Robben on the ball…
If Coquelin can just stop Robben from moving into the space on the player’s left, everything should be fine, as every Arsenal outfield player is within 20 yards of the Dutchman…
Remember, Coquelin, don’t let him onto his left foot…
No, we said DON’T let him onto his left foot…
Never mind…
Don’t let Arjen Robben cut in on his left.. ?pic.twitter.com/SrSIoV0pvq

Many on social media noticed Coquelin’s error.
It's as if Arsenal defenders didn't know Arjen Robben likes to cut inside on to his left foot and shoot EVERY SINGLE TIME HE GETS THE BALL.

The Arsenal Robben archetype goal, but more so.

Defending lazily when Robben is cutting in on his left foot is not a solid strategy.

Sounds like Arjen Robben is doing that predictable but annoyingly hard to stop thing again. #UCL

Even if Petr Cech and Ospina were both in goal, they wouldn't save that but what is Coquelin doing showing him inside so blatantly? pic.twitter.com/4M5HeR1pDR

Francis Coquelin clearly isn't a top level defensive midfielder. Shrugged off by Hazard and didn't know Robben cuts inside. Embarrassing.

Hey, at least Francis Coquelin will know for next time that Arjen Robben is left-footed.

"Don't show him onto his left foot, don't show him onto his left foot, don't … –". Oh. 1-0 Bayern. Brilliant from Robben

who could have anticipated robben would try that particular shot
— Ken Early (@kenearlys) February 15, 2017
Coq has obviously never seen Arjen Robben play in his life. Great strike mind.

Someone forget to pass on the message that Arjen Robben has, y'know, a habit of coming inside on his left foot and shooting?

They're the kinda situations when Arsenal need a midfielder who CAN tackle
