Ahead of the North London derby on Sunday, Olivier Giroud sat down for an interview with the people responsible for the match day programme.
The undoubted highlight of this interview was the response Giroud gave when asked about what his greatest fear was as a child.
According to the French international, as a ten-year-old child, the thing he dreaded more than anything on the face of this planet was sight of Alf the Alien, the main character in ALF -the American sci-fi sitcom that aired in the late eighties.
“My brothers are older than me – I am the youngest, and they used to tease me about a kids TV character called Alf,” Giroud explains.
“Alf the Alien, my God he was so ugly and I was so scared of him. My brothers used to say “Be careful, Alf is going to get you tonight.””
For those of us not old enough to remember, a picture of the terrifying creature was included in the programme.

We’re sure you’ll agree that it’s easy to see why this sort of thing would keep a ten-year-old Giroud up at night.
