Olivier Giroud’s ’embarrassing’ celebration has disgusted football fans everywhere

'They should have their points deducted'

Simon Lloyd

Yeah, 2017 is only a few days old, but Bournemouth’s Tuesday night match with Arsenal was a strong contender for Premier League game of the year.

The home side were three up against Arsene Wenger’s side with 20 minutes left to play, only for the visitors to stage a late comeback and snatch a 3-3 draw.

Days on from scoring his much talked about scorpion kick against Crystal Palace, it was Olivier Giroud who scored the equaliser two minutes into six minutes of stoppage time. It wasn’t quite as impressive as his new year’s day effort, but was enough to salvage what might prove to be a crucial point for Arsenal.

Clearly, the fact that they’d had levelled the game having looked certain to lose was a cause for some celebration, but the celebration the French striker produced was perhaps a little over the top.

Clearly keen to remind all those in the away end that he was the same bloke that scored the goal against Palace the other day, Giroud produced not one but two imaginary scorpion kicks to celebrate.

As much as we’d love to show you the footage, Premier League rules mean a couple of stills will have to make do. Still, you get the idea…

One…

And two…

His choice of celebration, coupled with the fact that there was probably still enough time remaining for a team with title-aspirations to go and get a winner, saw him attract plenty of stick from those watching.
