United play their return against Barcelona on Tuesday night.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has called on Uefa to change its Champions League scheduling having tried to Google why his Manchester United side are playing again on Tuesday night.
United lost 1-0 to Barcelona in the first leg of their quarter-final at Old Trafford on Wednesday night. Having played West Ham on Saturday, Tuesday’s return leg in the Nou Camp will be United’s third game in seven days.
Tottenham and Manchester City, as well as Liverpool and Porto, have an extra day to prepare for their return games in the competition after playing their first legs on Tuesday.
“I don’t understand that. Someone needs to explain why other teams have one day extra,” Solskjaer said.
“We tried to Google that.”
“Should Uefa change that? Definitely, 100%. Someone needs to explain why a Wednesday night first leg becomes a Tuesday second leg in the Champions League.”
United warmed up for Barcelona by beating West Ham 2-1 . They were unconvincing throughout the game, needing two Paul Pogba penalties to win the game and keep alive their hopes of finishing in the top four places.
Barcelona also played on Saturday, drawing 0-0 at bottom of the league Huesca. Leading LaLiga by 19 points ahead of kick-off, Ernesto Valverde was able to rest several of his first team for the game, including Lionel Messi, who bust his nose during a clash with Chris Smalling at Old Trafford.
