It’s the little things.
Back at the start of July a Tyrone family were left devastated after mother of two Jolene O’Hagan suddenly passed away.
The 23-year-old died from Pulmonary embolism leaving her two sons Alfie and Theo and her fiancee Johnathan Smyth absolutely devastated.
But it was what one Northern Irish footballer did for the family that is really just a class act.
Johnathan was over at a friend’s house when he received a Facebook message from Northern Irish international and Leeds footballer Stuart Dallas reaching out to the family.
The message read:
“Alright pal. Bit off [sic] a random 1 here but it’s something I’ve thought about a lot the sad news I heard regarding yourself and kids not so long ago. I know it’s short notice and I’m sure the kids have school. I’ve heard you’re a Northern Ireland fan and I’ve seen pictures of the wee men in Northern Ireland kits. I’m not sure if you’re going to the game tomorrow night but I would like to offer you and the kids a ticket to go to the game.
“I can’t begin to imagine what you’s are going through but I’ve 2 children myself and I feel if it’s only something small that brings a smile to their faces then I would love to do that. No worries at all if you can’t make it,'” the message concluded.
Johnathan took Dallas up on his offer as he headed to Windsor Park with his two sons as they saw Michael O’Neill’s side all but secure a playoff spot for World Cup qualification after a 2-0 defeat of Czech Republic, a result that Johnathan and his two kids very much enjoyed he assured SportsJOE.
The family have also set up a fundraising page to raise money and awareness for thrombosis UK and you can view it here,
