Nike risk embarrassing France after putting World Cup winners shirt on sale

Uh oh

Nike have put all their faith in the French national team after putting a shirt containing three stars on the badge on sale to their customers. France are looking to win the World Cup for the third time in their history, and for the second time in a row, when they face Argentina on Sunday.

Didier Deschamps’ side beat plucky underdogs Morocco 2-0 while Argentina comfortably beat Croatia 3-0 as Lionel Messi looks to win the World Cup for the first time in his career.

While many are divided on their opinion of who will win the final Nike appear to be much more confident. A screenshot of the French website showed that a commemorative ‘three star’ shirt available for fans to purchase on Friday.

Although the models in the screenshots are wearing shirts with only two stars, the description read: “FFF [French Football Federation] three stars 2022/23 stadium residence.”

France’s build up to the game has been somewhat disturbed by news of a virus in amongst the squad. Several players have been forced to sit out of training in the build up amid speculation about whether Karim Benzema will feature or not.

News that Benzema may play in the final first emerged after it became apparent that the forward had never been officially taken off France’s World Cup squad list.

Benzema flew back to Madrid after suffering a thigh injury in the build up to the opening game of the tournament but is now fit enough to play.

But the 34-year-old seems like he isn’t interested in playing for Les Bleus following a recent Instagram post while Deschamps all but confirmed he wouldn’t be playing at the Lusail Stadium.
