Nike design new FIFA 17 Mercurial Superfly boots to celebrate the game’s release

Bringing together the virtual and physical worlds.

By now, you know full well that FIFA 17 is due for release very soon.

From the new ‘Journey’ feature to the latest player ratings, we’ve been telling you all about what you can expect from the new game for weeks now. Finally, we’re now just days away from being able to get stuck into the new game.

Nike also seem pretty happy about the imminent release of the latest instalment in the FIFA series, marking the occasion by releasing a FIFA 17-inspired pair of Mercurial Superfly boots, to be featured in the new game.

The boots feature a pixelated design and will be available in the EA Sports Football Club Catalogue this week (September 22), with Nike also sticking 1500 pairs on sale themselves.

Speaking to The Mirror, Nathan Van Hook – Senior Design Director for Nike Football – said:

“This collaboration came together rather organically. Our design team spends a lot of our free time playing football – both on the pitch and via video game – we’re pretty obsessed with both. We wanted to create something memorable that brings together the physical and virtual worlds.”

FIFA 17 is due to be released on September 29 in Ireland and the United Kingdom, a couple of days after it becomes available in the United States.
