Neymar’s Rio mansion is all kinds of awesome

Preparing for when he eventually leaves Barcelona?

Tom Victor

Neymar might be one of the best footballers playing in a top European league, but he’s not forgotten his Brazilian roots.

The Barcelona forward returned home to help the Seleção earn Olympic gold for the first time over the summer, and when the time came to fork out on a new property, he made sure he’d be able to enjoy the comforts of a stylish home from home.

According to O Globo, the 24-year-old has put some of his wages to use on a 10,000 square metre mansion in Rio de Janeiro.

How much did that set him back? Oh, just the small matter of 28 million Brazilian Reales, about €8m.

According to O Globo, the property has six bedrooms, a swimming pool, tennis courts and even a helipad.

The paper reports that Neymar’s new pad is in the Portobello district of Rio, and just around the corner from a house owned by Emerson Sheik, the Brazilian-born Qatar international striker.

Could he be laying the foundations for a full-time return to Brazil before his playing career is up?
