Neymar: Trick penalty was meant for me, but Luis Suarez stole it!

Audacious stuff

No hard feelings.

It will go down in the history books as the day Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez took the absolute p*** against Celta Vigo, but the third member of the lethal MSN frontline has said it should have been him.

Neymar has revealed that the already famous trick penalty – which saw Messi pass the ball to his right and Suarez race in to find the net – was something they had rehearsed in training, only it had been intended that the Brazilian would score instead.

“It was for me, we had practiced it in training!” Neymar joked. “Leo and myself had practiced but Luis was closer and he scored it.

“Our friendship is the most important thing. It doesn’t matter who scores the goals just that we win the games.”

The penalty even took some of the trio’s team-mates by surprise, while boss Luis Enrique joked that he would never have tried it as he ‘would have fallen over’.

But Enrique denied that the move showed disrespect to Celta, adding: “Some will like it, some won’t, but as Barca players and members of the club, as well as winning trophies we try to enjoy our football in a spectacular way.

“What we have to do is enjoy our football, respect our opponents and try and show that we are better at them at football.”

Suarez’s hunger for goals is well documented, so it’s really no surprise he jumped in ahead of Neymar, especially when he had a hat-trick on the line.

The Uruguayan did pay Neymar back though, setting him to score the last of Barca’s six goals in injury-time.
