Neymar “has an understanding” to leave PSG next season

Neymar is reportedly regretting signing for Paris Saint-Germain in 2017, and is keen on a return to Barcelona, but the Catalan club do not have the funds

Neymar is reportedly regretting leaving Barcelona.

Neymar’s move to Paris Saint-Germain had many questioning his ambitions as a footballer. Did he want to be part of an all-conquering team, playing alongside the best player of all time, or did he place winning the Ballon d’Or higher up his list of priorities?

His decision to leave Barcelona for PSG would suggest the latter, but the Brazilian is now regretting his decision, according to reports.

Having left Barça to escape Lionel Messi’s shadow, Neymar has found himself playing second fiddle to the 19-year-old sensation Kylian Mbappe, which has frustrated him and led him to ask for a move away from Paris.

The Ligue 1 champions have reportedly now agreed on a deal with their world record signing, allowing him to leave the club next summer as long as they recoup the fee they paid for him just over a year ago.

Reports on Wednesday suggested that Neymar had been offering himself to Barcelona, dropping hints that he wishes to return to the Catalan giants. But Mundo Deportivo’s Francesc Aguilar today claimed that a return to Barca would be impossible.

He suggested that Barcelona would not be able to put together enough cash together to sign Neymar, even if they sold Ousmane Dembele.

Real Madrid, on the other hand, have, according to reports, put aside money for “operation Neymar”, and that the Bernabeu is a much more likely destination for Neymar.

It has felt inevitable for a while now that Neymar would end up donning the famous all-white kit, but now it seems like a sensible move for all parties as well.

Madrid are struggling to adapt playing without Cristiano Ronaldo, who joined Juventus in the summer after nine prolific years with Madrid. They have not scored in a month and recently appointed Julen Lopetegui is already under immense pressure.

Neymar could potentially fill the vacancy left by Ronaldo and once again be the focal point of his team’s attack.
