Neymar announces new career as a musician – no, really

His first track drops this week

Rob Burnett

Neymar is one of the best footballers on the planet.

He is part of perhaps the most feared forward line ever assembled in club football alongside Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi at Barcelona, where he has won La Liga twice and the European Cup.

He also captained the Brazilian side to the only major trophy that had eluded them in the game, when he led the Selecao to gold at the Rio Olympics this summer.

In short, he has conquered football. As his compatriot Ayrton Senna used to say, there are always bigger numbers, but it seems Neymar has ambitions outside of the game he has mastered.

He wants to be a musician.

Yes, the Brazilian superstar has announced on his official Twitter account that he is set to begin his music career – and will be releasing his first track on Facebook this Wednesday.

Translated as: “This Wednesday I begin my music career and I’m going to release my first song on Facebook. We will have ‘Neymusico’. Share it”

Neymusico!

His 24.9MILLION (!) followers didn’t quite know how to respond to the news, with the first response simply:

… which translates as “dying”.

Others will a little more creative:

There is no word on what kind of music he is into, but according to Spanish daily AS, Neymar has been taking piano lessons, so perhaps we can expect a re-working of Chopsticks from the Barca boy.

So there you have it. ‘Neymusico’. This Wednesday. Unbelievably brilliant or unbelievably crap – either way, it’s going to be amazing.
