Every goalkeeper’s nightmare.
Karl Darlow has committed a contender for goalkeeping howler of the season.
The Newcastle United ‘keeper dropped a serious clanger in the Championship game away to Norwich City.
Darlow rushed out of his penalty area to try clear a long ball that had been sent forward by a Norwich defender. Neither Cameron Jerome, or a Newcastle defender, met the ball, and it ran through to Darlow.
The former Nottingham Forest ‘keeper attempted to volley it back down the field, but sliced it into the path of Jerome.
The Norwich striker then finished from a yard out, and celebrated beforehand in the manner of Ross Barkley against Bournemouth.
The goal made it 2-1 on the night to Norwich, but Jamaal Lascelles scored late to gain Newcastle a point, and keep Rafa Benitez’s side top of the Championship.
