It was yet another record-reaking year for the money men of football in the corridors of Anfield over the past 12 months.
Agents have pocketed a massive amount of cash from transfers into the club, according to figures released by the Premier League this afternoon.
The figures cover the period from October 2014 to 30 September 2015, and show Liverpool spent more than any other club in agents’ fees, with a whopping £14.3 million lining the pockets of the Mr 15-percents.
Liverpool in that period signed James Milner, Adam Bogdan, Danny Ings, Joe Gomez, Nathaniel Clyne, Roberto Firmino, Christian Benteke and Allan Rodriguez, with every agent taking his cut of the various transfer fees involved.
James Milner arrived at Liverpool on a free transfer, but it would be expected that he was paid a hefty signing on fee via his agent for the switch, which may partly account for the high figure.
It is also being reported that Roberto Firmino, who cost the club £29million, is a large chunk of the fee handed over as the Reds had to deal with third party ownership of the former Hofenheim player in order to complete the deal.
Liverpool’s fees for this period are the same as the previous 12 months, when Chelsea topped the standings after forking out over £16million on agents fees.
Liverpool top the standings this term by just over half-a-million from Manchester United, while Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea spent over £10 million each
Considering Arsenal only signed Petr Cech in the summer, it would indicate the ex-Chelsea man was paid a monster signing-on fee.
Premier League clubs paid agents £130m from Oct 2014-Sept 2015.
