Nemanja Matic transfer to Manchester United looks inevitable, claims report

A big money move to Old Trafford

Darragh Culhane

It looks Nemanja Matic could finally be set to move to Manchester United.

A couple of weeks ago it seemed as if a Matic move was only a matter of formalities.

However, as the weeks have passed the talk of a move from Chelsea looked to have quietened down but now it seems that a move could be back on.

According to The Telegraphthe Serbian midfielder has been training on his own at Chelsea while nursing and injury and the squad are convinced that the 28-year-old will not be playing at the club next season.

Matic

The London-based club has failed to agree on a new contract with Matic over the past year and a half and are now willing to cash in on their player.

The player is valued at around £40m but Manchester United’s deal with Romelu Lukaku has slowed down the process of signing the Chelsea player.

Jose Mourinho is keen to bolster his squad after a sixth-place finish in the Premier League last season and has already spent big this summer.

The Old Trafford club has already spent approximately £30m on centre back Victor Lindelöf along with the £75m paid for their new Belgian forward.

Matic joined Chelsea from Benfica back in 2014 and has made over 100 appearances for the club since moving to England.
