It’s about the only to do with Fifa that isn’t drowning in cash
United Passions, the cinematic vanity project funded by Fifa to the tune of $29million, was finally released in US theatres over the weekend and the early returns are even worse than you might expect.
Despite the film’s release dates obviously appealing to fans of irony, coming at the height of Fifa’s corruption scandal, United Passions grossed a measly $607 on its opening weekend.
Now it was only out on in ten screens across the country, but with ticket prices averaging about $10, that means roughly 60 people sat through the 110-minute travesty. One cinema in Phoenix reported takings of just $9.
We hope that person enjoyed it.
