On Wednesday, former Sunderland Adam Johnson was found guilty on one charge of sexual activity with a child, and found not guilty on a further charge.
In the aftermath of the jury reaching their decision, BBC Sport published a story charting Johnson’s ‘fall from grace’.
The report was tweeted from their official Twitter account, accompanied by a picture of Johnson in a Middlesbrough shirt.
Johnson started his career with Middlesbrough, before joining Manchester City – the team he represented before joining Sunderland.
However, although clearly no offence was intended by it, the decision to include this particular picture didn’t sit well with some of the people that replied to the tweets.
