Michael Owen has feelings too you know.
Of that we have been reliably informed, no matter how monotone his punditry or co-commentary may seem at times during games.
The former Liverpool man is well used to Twitter abuse at this stage, but we didn’t think people would be so cruel as to mock the ex-striker after enduring a tough day in the Curragh today.
The former England frontman was devastated to hear that one of his star horses, Brown Panther, had to be put down after today’s St Ledger at the Curragh after suffering an injury while in second place in the race.
The TV pundit took to Twitter this evening to let people know how bad he was feeling but social media was pretty harsh on a man grieving over the loss of a multi-million pound investment
Ok, so the message may be a little bit mawkish but some people on Twitter saw another opportunity for a bit of slagging of Owen.

But at least some people were a bit more sympathetic

Unforgettable horse .— Rema ✌🏻️ (@_RemaOwen) September 13, 2015
He got back on Twitter tonight to thank those who sympathized and hit back at the online bullies too.
Thanks for your kind messages everyone. Social media is a crap place sometimes but you've lifted my spirits this evening. X
