Mesut Ozil’s secret to his unreal form is disappointingly ordinary

The effort

Hard work, that’s what Mesut Ozil puts his great season down to.

The Arsenal playmaker came under some criticism for his, well, “not world class” performances in his first two seasons at the Emirates Stadium. However, Ozil has become one of Europe’s leading creators in this campaign.

Ozil reckons that his jump in form this season all boils down to extra drills he’s been doing in training. The German World Cup winner explained that the added work on the training ground has boosted his self confidence which has caused his general play to improve.

“After training there are a few shooting drills that can help with self-belief. In general, when you look at my chances in front of goal, I’ve taken them well.”

“Every player wants to score goals. I’m intending to score more this season than in previous years. It’s most important for us to perform well and to be successful – I’m looking forward to giving assists or scoring goals.”

“My aim is to score more goals this season than in the last two. I think I’m on a good path and will achieve that.”

It’s good to see that Ozil is aiming for the stars anyway as in order to achieve this feat, he will have to score at least 11 more goals in all competitions this season. If he’s looking to just best his Premier League socring record over the past two seasons then he’ll need to fire in 10 more goals.
