This is not what the Poles needed.
Ireland’s win on Thursday night against Germany means that the Republic are riding to Warsaw on the crest of a wave. And it also means that they are still in with a shot of automatic qualification.
That chance is against Poland themselves who entertain Martin O’Neill’s men in the final group game on Sunday evening.
Ireland go in with nothing to lose. Poland are under pressure to maintain their second place status and now they are under even more strain with a triple injury blow.
Ajax striker and Lewandowski’s partner in crime, Arkadiusz Milik, has been ruled out for two weeks with a muscle tear sustained during the 2-2 draw with Scotland.
Well, either that or he just doesn’t want to face James McClean again…
McClean put his dent in Milik back in March at the Aviva and completely turned the crowd and the game.

Meanwhile, defender Maciej Rybus and experienced Legia Warsaw midfielder Tomasz Jodlowiec have also been confirmed as absences for the visit of the Irish.
All three players started against the Republic during the 1-1 draw in Dublin back in March.
The injury news is more concerning for the Poles considering Martin O’Neill is expected to welcome back his own threesome of players in Seamus Coleman, Glenn Whelan and James McClean.
Let’s get at them!
