Martin O’Neill has signed a new deal with the FAI.
Republic of Ireland manager Martin O’Neill has signed a new contract to manage the Boys In Green. O’Neill and his management team will stay on until 2020.
The FAI confirmed the news on the eve of the draw for the UEFA Nations League in Lausanne, Switzerland.
O’Neill had verbally agreed to stay on in October prior to Ireland’s humiliating World Cup playoff defeat to Denmark, but he had not put pen to paper on a new contract.

The news comes nearly three months after the FAI posted an interview confirming that O’Neill had agreed to a new deal. The Derry man said he was excited about the future of the team, but failed to address his recent courtship with Stoke and the other offers he received. He will undoubtedly be asked about these offers when he meets media in Switzerland.
Reaction to the news has been predictably negative. Some folks really aren’t enthused by O’Neill staying on as boss.
