Martin Odegaard set for Premier League loan but not at the club of his choosing

Not a bad fall-back option

Patrick McCarry

This is quite the love triangle.

Martin Odegaard looks increasingly likely to be packing his bags for another loan move away from Real Madrid.

It is a little over 18 months since the Spanish giants landed the then 16-year-old in a deal that reportedly netted him and his Norwegian club side £2.3m.

The teenager has trained regularly with Los Blancos’ senior side and has one substitute outing but has yet to make a lasting impression on their matchday squads. He was loaned out to Real’s B side last season. The club want him to gain some first team experience in an elite European division.

Odegaard has no qualms with that and is said to harbour ambitions of a move to Liverpool.

He may get to play at Anfield but, if reports in The Daily Mail are anything to go by, it will be in a West Ham jersey.

The English outlet state that the Hammers would be keen to get in the promising attacker, who would be somewhat of a marqueé name and who may attract a few more punters to their new pad, London Stadium.

Real are faced with a transfer embargo and, were it enforced, would not be able to recall any players on season-long loan deals if the paperwork did not go through by this Saturday.

If Odegaard is on the move, we should know if by this weekend.
