Soccer Aid is always a great spectacle, but we didn’t expect to see this.
When you gather some of the biggest names in footballing history in one place, there’s always the potential for something special.
From Manchester United heroes like Dimitar Berbatov to the former best player on the planet Ronaldinho, you always felt like the would be fireworks at Old Trafford.
And while Ronaldinho definitely didn’t disappoint, making his opponents look foolish with a few sly tricks, it was actually and Englishman who opened the scoring in spectacular fashion – and it wasn’t even one of the former footballers who did it.
With the game still goalless after 50 minutes, The Only Way is Essex star Mark Wright lined up a free-kick from distance.
Let’s be honest, given the same chance in front of a packed Old Trafford, most of us would have simply skyed the ball into row z or smashed it directly into the wall.
But Wright kept his calm and channelled his inner Roberto Carlos as he struck the ball beautifully off his left foot and into the back of the net.
Pick that one out, son.
In case you missed it, @MarkWright_ with an absolute worldie from 30+ yards! Wow! #SoccerAid https://t.co/xYJdssVqyf
