Mark Lawrenson never got the chance to play for Ireland at a major tournament.
The former Ireland and Liverpool defender missed out on Euro ’88 due to injury, but was on duty for the BBC with Conor McNamara at the Aviva for the Euro 2016 play-off.
Jonathan Walters gave Ireland the lead thanks to what pretty much everyone agreed was a harsh handball call against Ervin Zuckanovic in the first half.
It was a marginal call at best but Jon Walters stuck home the penalty anyway.

Lawrenson however felt the decision was harsh, and came up with a novel way for the defender to make sure he doesn’t give away another one.
Ok, then Mark.
