Mario Balotelli scores penalty minutes into Nice debut, celebrates like he’s Eric Cantona

Pourquoi toujours lui?

Rob Burnett

A goal is a goal. They all count, whether they are worldies from 45 yards, or come off your arse after a post-corner penalty area melee.

So of course you are entitled to celebrate each and every one that you score.

Especially if, like Mario Balotelli, you haven’t scored one since March 1st – a goal that was one of only three the striker got all season for Milan.

The year before he netted just four times for Liverpool who finally managed to offload him to Nice on a free transfer on deadline day.

He made his debut for his new club on Sunday evening in a match against Marseille. And promptly scored just SEVEN minutes into his Nice career.

It wasn’t a classic goal – it came from the penalty spot – but Super Mario stood with his arms outstretched like he was Eric Cantona or Cristiano Ronaldo and had just netted the goal of the season.

His team-mates then mob him like he’s just won them the World Cup as everyone seems to get a little over-excited about the whole thing.

Presumably Mario will celebrate further after the match with an impromptu firework display in his bathroom.

And expect to see loads of French people wandering around Nice wearing t-shirts with “Pourquoi toujours moi?” written on the front.
