Mario Balotelli has been through a lot during his playing days, and the racist taunting he has received from fans is uncalled for in any circumstances.
Back in 2013, when he was playing in Serie A, the Italian forward threatened to walk off the field of play if there was a repeat of the abuse he suffered at the hands of supporters during AC Milan’s draw with Roma.
Well, he didn’t leave the pitch as Nice drew 1-1 in Bastia, but he provided a very strongly-worded statement after the incidents during that particular game.
‘I have a question for French people,’ Balotelli wrote in an Instagram post.
‘Is it normal that Bastia supporters make monkey noise end “uh uh” for the whole game and no one of the “commissions discipline ” say nothing?
‘So is racism LEGAL in France? Or only in Bastia ?
‘Football is an amazing sport .. those people like Bastia supporters make it horrible’

Nice moved back to the top of Ligue 1 after the draw, and have still lost just once all season.
Balotelli has eight league goals to his name for his new club – Alassane Pléa is the only Nice player with more – and 10 in all competitions.
