Marcus Rojo’s horror show against Feyenoord laid bare by woeful stats

Robert Redmond

Good God.

Marcos Rojo has somehow lasted two years at Manchester United, but he may have played his last game for the club. The Argentine defender was awful against Feyenoord in United’s 1-0 defeat in the Europa League on Thursday night.

While few United players performed well in the game, Rojo’s horror showing stood out amongst a raft of inept performances.

According to statistics compiled by Squawka, the 26-year-old misplaced seven passes, failed to win any tackles, made no clearances and failed to win any aerial duels.

Rojo was also caught out for Tonny Vilhena’s winner.

Needless to say, Rojo isn’t a worthy successor to Denis Irwin or Patrice Evra at left-back for United, and Jose Mourinho, arguably the best defensive coach in football, is unlikely to have approved of his performance.
