The pina coladas are on Marcus Rashford this summer.

The 18-year-old Manchester United striker has enjoyed an incredible breakthrough season at the club to put it mildly.

The teenager has been the inspiration for a late improvement in form for Louis van Gaal’s side, and his goals, seven in 15 games, have made him a household name across Europe.

The youngster still has a long way to go to becoming the finished article, but his progress on the pitch is about to be mirrored by significant developments off it, as he’s close to signing a new contract at the club.

Currently the 18-year-old earns approximately just £1,500 per week.

According to The Daily Mail, the striker, who is now represented by his brother Dwaine Maynard, is hoping to negotiate a deal worth a huge increase to £25,000 per week from next season.

The package will bring Rashford’s earnings to just over £1.3million per season when additional bonuses and appearances clauses are reached.

Rashford was understood to have been hesitant to enter into negotiations as several agents tried to lure him with attractive offers, until his brother decided to take control.

So if you come across Rashford on your holidays this summer, with his new fat deal, the drinks are very much on him.
