The Red Devils attacker has fired back at reports

Marcus Rashford has fired back at suggestions that Cristiano Ronaldo is ‘annoying’ him and club captain Harry Maguire because he wants to ‘lead’ the club.

BILD journalist Christian Falk claimed that English duo Rashford and Maguire have been left annoyed by the 37-year-old’s behaviour.

“True, the English players like Harry Maguire, Marcus Rashford & Co are irritated that Ronaldo wants to lead the dressing room with his own clique,” he said on Twitter.

Ronaldo has scored 15 goals across all competitions this term, more than any other player at Old Trafford. The Portugal captain bagged his latest goal for United on Tuesday, ending a goalless run of six games with the opener in their 2-0 win over Brighton.

Despite this, his return to Old Trafford has coincided with one of the United’s worst starts to a campaign since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013.

In recent weeks, reports have suggested that cliques have emerged inside the club’s dressing room and that certain players are growing frustrated by Ronaldo.

It has also been claimed that the former Real Madrid man is part of a ‘section’ of the club, alongside the likes of Diogo Dalot, Fred, Alex Telles and Fernandes, who have formed their own mini-group.

However, Rashford has since responded to these suggestions, replying to Falk’s initial tweet about the situation at the club.

“Are we just making it up as we go along now then? Please stop looking for divides,” responded the England attacker.

Ralf Rangnick’s side currently sit fourth in the Premier League table, two points ahead of West Ham in fifth. The Red Devils travel to Elland Road to face Leeds on Sunday, having won three of their previous five top-flight matches.
