Manuel Neuer missed out on the Ballon d’Or, but he seems to have a plan to prevent such disappointment again.
The Bayern Munich goalkeeper seems hell bent on creating a new position in football, a hybrid between a goalkeeper and a midfielder, like a cross between Peter Schmeichel and Xavi.
It’s not enough for Neuer to be the undisputed best ‘keeper around, he’s also on a mission to take the p**s out of opposition outfield players and succeeding.
Check out Neuer’s passing stats from Bayern’s 4-1 win last night over FC Koln.
The German goalie had a 100 per cent pass completion rate, spraying the ball around with ease and even making some passes from central midfield. While just six of his 20 passes were inside the penalty area.
Ridiculous.

What makes Neuer’s statistics even more impressive is that the ‘keeper didn’t have any long punts or rash clearances, just precise, pinpoint passes to pick out his team-mates, starting moves and generally being excellent at football.
We salute you Manuel.
