It may be finally happening.
Manchester United have opened talks with Juventus over the transfer of Paul Pogba, according to reports in France.
The negotiations are being headed by Ed Woodward (so they could take a while) with Italian club adamant that any fee must be in excess of €100m, which would make the 23-year-old the most expensive player.
L’Equipe, who are pretty much the Bible in terms of coverage of the French team, are claiming that Woodward has met with Juventus officials and has the backing of Jose Mourinho, who wanted to sign Pogba when he was manager of Chelsea.
Pogba left Manchester United in 2012 after becoming frustrated by the lack of first-team action he was getting under Alex Ferguson.
L’Equipe claim an official bid could be lodged by United next week, though with France massive favourites to beat Iceland and progress to the semi-finals of Euro 2016 it may not be until after their involvement in the competition that there is any definitive movement one way or another.
