Louis van Gaal has a contract up until the end of next season at Old Trafford, but we’d be amazed if he lasts that long at Manchester United.
The Dutchman has failed to impress in his time in England since replacing David Moyes, with many fans frustrated with his team’s lack of urgency and seemingly never-ending barren spells in front of goal.
Pep Guardiola has long been linked with the job, but it seems that if the ex-Barcelona man fails to make it to England, a former Chelsea manager, or a current Serie A winner, could be taking the reins at Old Trafford.
According to this morning’s Daily Express, Carlo Ancelotti and Massimiliano Allegri could both be in the frame to take over in the red half of Manchester if LvG fails to see out the end of his contract.
The paper claims that with Gary Neville gaining experience in Spain, the club may seek a temporary manager to fill the gap before a possible return for the former club legend to the number one role at Old Trafford.
Ancelotti has been out of work since leaving Real Madrid, while the current Juventus manager claimed a league and cup double in Italy last season.
