Doesn't sound good

Both men will require specialists.

With Manchester United entering the crucial period in their season, the recent injuries to Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcos Rojo couldn’t have happened at a worse time for Jose Mourinho.

Despite a somewhat erratic start to his career at Old Trafford, Argentinian defender Rojo has steadily improved this season and has become a mainstay in a defence that has only conceded 24 goals in 31 league games.

As for Ibrahimovic, well, his first season in England has been a resounding success with 28 goals in all competitions.

With matches against Man City, Arsenal, Spurs and the Europa League semi-final against Celta Vigo to come in the next few weeks, United supporters will be hoping that the injuries to Rojo and Ibrahimovic aren’t worse than feared.

The club released a statement which said: “Detailed investigations on the injuries sustained by Marcos Rojo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic during Thursday’s Europa League match have confirmed significant knee ligament damage in both players that requires specialist opinions over the coming days. Estimations of time to full recovery will only be possible once definitive treatment plans have been decided after these consultations.”

Manchester United resume their league duties away to Burnley on Sunday.
