Operation “Get Pogba, Keep de Gea” is in full swing.
It appears that Louis Van Gaal’s mission for the summer is to keep hold of one of the Spanish shot-stopper and also bring one of the highest touted midfielders in Europe to Old Trafford.
That might seem like a difficult task for any manager, but the club are willing to supply the Dutchman with a lot of funds to ensure the mission is a success.
They’ve given LVG access to €207m this summer for transfers, meaning that theoretically he has the finance to meet Juve’s €100m valuation of Pogba, give De Gea a lucrative new contract offer to make him stay put and maybe even have a little left over to strengthen other areas of the squad.
The whopping kitty made available to LVG is apparently an advance on the £750m, 10-year kit deal United signed with Adidas which is set to start in August. It means that the likes of Mats Hummels and to a lesser extent, Harry Kane might well be tempted to United sooner rather than later.
