You can’t blame Manchester United fans for being a little bit excited about the return of Paul Pogba.
After all, they’ve not exactly been spoilt for choice in the central midfield department in recent years.
As many United fans made their way down to Wembley for the Community Shield against Leicester, word started to filter through that the deal that seemed destined to be ‘confirmed in 48 hours’ for the rest of time was *actually* about to happen.
First of all, Juventus – the club Pogba left United for four years ago – confirmed that they had given the 23-year-old permission to have a medical back in Manchester.
Shortly after followed an announcement from United, complete with dodgy hashtag.

Their club might well be on the cusp of shattering the world record transfer fee for an extremely highly-rated midfielder, but that hashtag somehow seemed to take the gloss off it for some…

As word reached those United fans that had travelled to Wembley, they celebrated the news with an imaginative reworking of the Baddiel and Skinner Euro 96 anthem, Football’s Coming Home.
