Manchester United efforts to offload Javier Hernandez hampered by broken collarbone

Friendly woe

Gareth Makim

Manchester United’s hopes of offloading striker Javier Hernandez this summer look to have suffered a blow after the player broke his collarbone last night

The forward, was in action for Mexico in a friendly against Honduras ahead of the Gold Cup and reports suggest this tumble resulted in a broken clavicle that will sideline him for six-to-eight weeks.

That’s bad news for United, who are hoping to move on from Chicharito as Louis van Gaal continues to reshape his squad ahead of an expected Premier League title challenge this season, with interested clubs more likely to shy away until the player returns to full fitness.

Hernandez spent last season on loan at Real Madrid, but they have rejected the option to sign him on a permanent deal.
