Two games into the season, it’s all going wrong at Old Trafford.
Manchester United fans are expected to fly a banner over Old Trafford before Manchester United’s league game against Tottenham Hotspur on Monday night, according to reports.
The banner will display a message in protest against the club’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward after a disappointing summer in the transfer window. Woodward failed to sign any of the central defenders that Jose Mourinho wanted in the summer, which has brought a lot of criticism his way after United lost to Brighton 3-2 at the weekend.
Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof looked devoid of confidence at the Amex and some United fans are pointing the finger at Woodward for not appeasing Mourinho’s demands in the summer.
The predictions about when Jose Mourinho will leave Man United are wrong
The banner will reportedly read ‘ED OUT – LUHG’ (Love United, Hate Glazers).
There is no protest against Mourinho planned, with many fans choosing to blame Woodward for the team’s poor form instead of the manager who has been at Old Trafford for two years, spending approximately £400m on players in that time.
The last time United fans felt compelled to fly a banner over the stadium was during the 2013/14 season, when David Moyes was in the dugout at Old Trafford.
A plane flew over the stadium displaying a banner which read ‘Wrong one, Moyes out’.
How long before the same is done for Mourinho. Only time will tell.
