Arsenal fans in disbelief after discovering Manchester City’s actual bid for Alexis Sanchez

Nice try...

We should definitely see some last-minute drama in the transfer window.

According to well-connected Sky Sports reporter, Kaveh Solhekol, Manchester City officially bid £50 million for Arsenal’s star player, Alexis Sanchez, on Tuesday.

Despite the rumours of a money-plus-player (Raheem Sterling) move for the Gunners forward, it was a cash-only approach and given the lofty fees that have been flying around over the summer, Arsenal fans can’t help but feel that they are being severely low-balled by the deep-pocketed City chiefs.

Sanchez’s saga has been one of the longest-running ones of this window and his future has yet to be resolved at the Emirates but the £50 million bid was rejected outright.

City manager Pep Guardiola, who knows Sanchez well from their time together at Barcelona, appears determined to get his man, however, and an improved offer for the Chile international is expected before the window closes on Thursday night.

Considering the fact that Sanchez was the third-highest scorer in the Premier League last season, Arsenal supporters will be hoping that the improved offer is significantly higher because anything in the region of the original £50 million is not going to go down well in North London.

Would be funny if they came back with £50 million and a pound, mind.
