Paul Pogba did not travel to Dubai with the Manchester United squad.
Manchester United travelled to Dubai for a week-long training after their 2-0 FA Cup victory over Reading on Saturday, but midfielder Paul Pogba was a notable absence from the myriad photographs of squad members on their flight to the emirate city.
Pogba, who has been a central figure to the club’s revival under interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, sat out that game as the Red Devils dispatched of the Championship strugglers thanks to goals from Juan Mata and Romelu Lukaku.
He has scored four goals and provided three assists during the four Premier League games since the Norwegian coach took over from Jose Mourinho on a caretaker basis, and as such there were question marks over his absence from the squad.
On Sunday, the club clarified that Pogba – who won United’s Player of the Month award for December – would miss the beginning of the camp due to the injury he picked up in the club’s recent 2-0 win at Newcastle United.
He will, they stated, join the team later in the week in preparation for United’s crucial Premier League tie with Tottenham Hotspur on January 13.
Aside from Pogba, the full Man United squad travelled to Dubai, including youngsters Mason Greenwood, Joe Garner, Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong, who made his first-team debut for the Red Devils in their FA Cup win over the weekend.
