The most tedious transfer saga is almost over
Jadon Sancho is now as close as he’s ever been to joining Manchester United since the last round of updates that he was closer than he had ever been to joining Manchester United.
Rarely has a transfer saga involving a young English talent ever bored us all to tears in such a way. The tweets from Fabrizio Romano, the updates from Kaveh Solhekol, all confirming to us that talks are ongoing, Sancho wants the move, but Manchester United aren’t meeting Borussia Dortmund’s asking price. Every week, like clockwork, for the entirety of last summer. God, it was tortous.
But now, it seems we are close to the end of the road, with Sky Sports reporting that the two clubs have actually, finally, agreed a fee of €85 million for the winger, according to Sky Sports in Germany.

United look set to pay significantly less than the €100m plus that Dortmund were demanding last summer, after the coronavirus pandemic and all its financial implications saw the transfer market shrink significantly, with even the biggest clubs around struggling to cobble together the cash they would usually intend to spend.
However, there is still a way to go with regard to negotiating the payment structure of the deal. So don’t get too excited. This could drag on for a while yet.

Previous reports have claimed that United had come to an agreement on personal terms with Sancho months ago, so it seems like once the two clubs have agreed on a payment plan, Romano will finally be able to tweet, ‘Here we go!’.
Personally, I cannot wait for that day. Please, end our misery.
