Manchester United linked with move for Tottenham’s Heung-Min Son

Another name to be linked with Old Trafford

Manchester United might be trying to buy a Tottenham player

Not that one. And no, not him, either. Instead, a report claims Jose Mourinho might be eyeing a move for Spurs’ South Korean international, Heung-Min Son.

Sport1 in Germany, where Son played for Hamburg and Bayer Leverkusen before his switch to London, claim that United are keeping tabs on the player. Premier League rivals Liverpool and, laughably, Arsenal, are also thought to be interested.

United though, are thought to be keen to make a move for Son, who is said to be open to the possibility of making such a switch.

As United have reportedly found with their hopes of trying to sign Toby Alderweireld this summer, Spurs players don’t come cheap. Son’s current contract runs until 2020 and has no buyout clauses in it. As a result, the report claims anyone interested in him would have to pay €70m (just over £60m in real money). Knowing Daniel Levy’s track record, we dare say even this might not be enough to tempt Tottenham into considering letting him go.

Heung-Min Son is reportedly being eyed by Jose Mourinho

For now, the 25-year-old is focusing on the World Cup. His South Korea side went into their final group game against Germany winless but still with a chance of qualification for the last 16 stage.

While United have already completed deals for Portuguese full-back Diogo Dalot and Brazil international midfielder Fred, they were also boosted (boosted?) by reports on Wednesday that claimed Marouane Fellaini may now be set to stay put at Old Trafford.

The Belgium international had appeared set to leave United, the club he joined from Everton five years ago, after failing to agree on a new deal. Having confirmed during a press conference for his national side on Tuesday that his mind had been made up, it’s now thought the 30-year-old has agreed to a new two-year deal with the 20-time English champions.
