Manchester United denied late on in shocking performance at Brentford

Brentford fought back for a draw after Mason Mount thought he had snatched victory for United.

The Londoners peppered United’s goal with chance after chance. They recorded 31 shots with five on target, not to mention hitting the woodwork three times. On the other hand, the away side had 11 attempts with five on target mostly coming from ambitious long-range efforts.

Erik ten Hag’s side looked a different team to the side that defeated Liverpool two weeks ago. Tonight they looked bereft of ideas and uninspired both in attack and defence.

The draw leaves United in sixth place eight points behind Spurs and 11 behind fourth-placed Aston Villa. Both Villa and Spurs were victorious on Saturday afternoon bolstering their hopes for a UEFA Champions League place.
