The Spanish international is out for the season, meaning City will have to turn elsewhere
Manchester City have reportedly identified a ‘top target’ as a Rodri replacement.
The Spanish international limped off versus Arsenal and it has since been confirmed that he will miss the rest of the season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament.
An integral part of the team, Rodri has shaped a huge amount of the success at Manchester City as he boasts an impeccable winning record when on the pitch.
Not only did he score the Champions League final winner against Internazionale, he was also a near ever-present in the side.
Now though, City need a replacement and they have reportedly turned to none other than fellow Spanish international Martin Zubimendi of Real Sociedad, as per Relevo.
It is believed that the club will do ‘whatever they can’ to secure his services.
The club are reportedly not ruling out making a move as soon as January.
A top target for Liverpool in the summer, Zubimendi then previously turned down the opportunity of a move to Anfield.
Making an appearance in the Euro 2024 final victory over England, Zubimendi has earned a huge reputation as a midfielder, with plenty of potential suitors.
