Die-hard Manchester City fan Mark Pinder may despise rival club Manchester United, but that didn’t stop him from willingly getting their crest permanently scarred onto his leg.
Pinder‘s 12-year-old son Kirk suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, an incurable condition that causes the muscles to slowly deteriorate. Kirk is confined to a wheelchair and unable to raise his arms. The youngster will require steel rods inserted into his spine in order to keep it straight.
“All you can do is watch your child deteriorate in front of you,” Mark told Manchester Evening News.
After spending years dealing with the heartbreaking situation, Mark decided to do his part in the fight against the disease. He pledged that if he raised £10,000 to donate to the Duchenne Now charity, which will help trials and research for muscular dystrophy, he’d get Man Utd’s crest tattood onto his leg.

“I’m buzzing now that I’ve done it,” Mark admitted. He also sold off a boxing glove and a book signed by Ricky Hatton as part of the fundraising efforts.
