Barcelona have reached the Club World Cup final after beating Guangzhou Evergrande, with Luis Suarez scoring all three in a 3-0 win.
The Uruguayan’s goalscoring achievements are well-known to fans across the world, but the treble in Yokohama takes him to a whole new level.
It is, remarkably, the seventh different competition in which Suarez has walked away with the match ball – something the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are yet to achieve.
Suárez has now scored hat-tricks in:
Club World Cup
Primera División
Premier League
Eredivisie
KNVB Beker
Europa League
WC Qualifiers— Mr. Numbers (@Mister_Numbers) December 17, 2015
Strangely it was only Suarez’s second hat-trick of the season, but he is the first player to ever score three times in a Club World Cup game.
Barcelona will take on River Plate in the final after the South American champions beat Sanfrecce in the other semi-final.
