Louis van Gaal, the quoting machine.
Whilst this one probably won’t be printed on any motivational posters, the Manchester United boss has had a bit of a pop at some of the facilities in England’s top flight.
In fact, the Old Trafford boss said things are that cramped in some of the grounds, that he has no other option but to sit on the toilet. Because there’s nowhere else to sit.
“I can say a positive thing and I can say a negative thing,” he spoke about his start to the Premier League with MUTV.
“Let’s start with the negative thing. The accommodation for the players to dress themselves, to change into their club shirts, are in most stadiums not so good.
“And also the place for the manager, a lot of times I am sitting on the toilet! But not on the toilet to make something, but because there is no other place. That was, for me, surprising.”
But one of Europe’s top managers who has experienced life in Spain and Germany with giants like Bayern and Barca does believe that football in England is stronger than anywhere else.
“The way football is lived here in the minds of the people is unbelievable, and it is what I expected.
“I think it’s fantastic to be here in England. They live football, football is living, and living is football. That is not [the case] in Germany, in Spain a little bit more, but here it’s unbelievable. It’s fantastic to see.”
