Manchester United fans, avert your eyes.
A fortnight ago, with David de Gea reporting for pre-season training and Sergio Ramos expressing his desire to join Manchester United, it seemed the Premier League were going to come out of the summer on top.
That situation seems to have flipped on its head.
Ramos is set to pen a new, five-year deal at Real and will captain the side next season. He called his club’s bluff and won. United appear to be collateral damage.
Now, David de Gea is odds on to join Ramos in Spain.
Following last night’s 2-0 defeat to Paris Saint Germain, in America, United manager Louis van Gaal cut a resigned figure.
De Gea was substituted at half-time, and replaced by Sam Johnstone, after he was beaten twice – a Luke Shaw own goal and Zlatan Ibrahimovic tap in.
Asked about his No.1, van Gaal was blunt.

The Dutchman was not as forthcoming about Angel di Maria, who is set to sign for PSG. ‘I don’t know where he is,’ he snapped at reporters.
PSG boss Laurent Blanc was more forthcoming. ‘We feel that negotiations are close to the end,’ he revealed.
Van Gaal also gave an insight into how he sees his back four lining up against Spurs in his side’s Premier League opener, on August 8.
