Louis van Gaal looks to have forgiven David De Gea and has resurrected his United career

About time

Conan Doherty

David, David, where art thou?

We had to play with Sergio Romero in goals.

David De Gea is a United player – for the next four months at least – whether he likes it or not and it seems that Louis van Gaal is finally ready to recognise that too.

One of the world’s best goalkeepers has been taken in from the Old Trafford cold and included in Manchester United’s Champions League squad, named today.

De Gea’s proposed move to Real Madrid broke down on Monday night – if you hadn’t heard – and the Spaniard, who hasn’t featured for the side so far this season, is about to see his playing career resurrected with his inclusion in van Gaal’s European panel.

Victor Valdes, meanwhile, may continue to make himself snug in that directors’ box.

And it’s not just good news for David De Gea. The club’s Deadline Day signing joins him on the list, as well as a couple of seemingly perennial hot prospects.

The love story continues.
