“Manchester United has to be… in the first three.”
No, Louis. No.
Manchester United has to win the Premier League. To paraphrase Roy Keane (all genuflect), any year they don’t win, they’ve failed.
But Louis van Gaal is happy with top three.
The Old Trafford boss admitted that they have been underperforming. Great news for United fans. The bad news? Underperforming is not reaching the top three.
The Dutch man was facing the press ahead of the visit of Southampton on Saturday and he’ll prepare to face his compatriot Ronald Koeman without Phil Jones, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Ashley Young, who is expecting a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Louis van Gaal tells #MUTV Ashley Young has a severe groin injury and will be operated on. The #mufc winger will be out for "a long time."

Louis van Gaal went on to talk about how the Premier League is tougher now than it was 10 years ago. Probably fair enough. But don’t you dare even think about implying anything about Fergie’s achievements.
